Review of Chance Gardner at the DAYTONA BANDSHELL
7PM live performance by Chance
Chance Gardner’s solo performance of songs from ‘Easy Come & Easy Go’ were well received but when he played new material from the new album the audience went wild. One song, “Love is Like an Open Road”, which was reprised from his singer-songwriter debut “A Slack in the Key of Integrity” got an instant response and set the mood for the rest of the set. New love songs like “Melody” and “Never Let You Go” were among the favorites. Chance’s Street Team stayed busy selling Pre-Release copies of the ‘AMERICANA Soul’ CD and T-shirts.
Review of Hawaii Music Awards “Best Folk CD 2005”, also Grammy 1st Round Nominee in Best Folk & Best New Artist:
“Chance Gardner Easy Come and Easy Go (Manawa Records).
Born in Cuba and fried from birth on Southern blues, good old rock and roll, and Latin rhythms, Chance Gardner is a bizarrely twisted cowboy-boots-clad bald man. This effort yields 15 tracks for almost an hour’s worth of songs brought to life via percussive elements, serpentine harmonicas, and a friggin’ ukulele. The influence of the band’s frequent gigs in the Hawaiian islands certainly comes through. “1/2 a Cigarette’s Time,” “Molokai Crab,” “Schoolbully Blues,” and “Devil’s Working Overtime” bring a nice thematically responsible counterbalance to the closer, simply titled “Jestus.” More fresh Miami music.
